About York Cycleworks

Our Shop
A traditional bike shop for today's cyclist, established in 1980, we are a large, friendly, independent bike shop located just outside of York’s city walls. At York Cycleworks we stock some of the biggest and best known cycling brands in the world. We pride ourselves on our exceptional level of expertise and knowledge across all aspects of cycling. We know that buying a bike can be a daunting experience, no matter if it's your first or your hundredth bike with so many different options and technical jargon. That's why we'll stick the kettle on so we can talk you through the options, explain what everything means and make sure that you leave with the right bike for your needs.

Bikes and Accessories
At Cycleworks we stock a large range of road, mountain and commuter bikes as well as a wide range of accessories and parts for whatever sort of riding you enjoy.
Workshop
We have one of the best equipped and most experienced full-time workshops around which is manned by three fully qualified CYTECH mechanics who will service and repair your bike. They also offer expert advice on custom built bikes and hand built wheels that can be tailored to your exact specifications.
Coaching and Testing
York Cycleworks are proud to be able to offer Performance Coaching and Testing here in the shop. Our coach, Rob Stanley can build a bespoke training plan tailored to your goals and ambitions and deliver it to you week on week. Services vary from entry-level testing up to elite-athlete coaching.
Bike Fit
A bike fit greatly improves your efficiency on the bike, will decrease your risk of injury and will help you get the most out of your cycling. Using state-of-the-art Trek Precision Fit technology, one of our four bike fit technicians will help you get the correct position on the bike to achieve this. We can fit you to a bike bought from us or elsewhere.
Events
Here at Cycleworks we LOVE a good event! We hold regular talks and workshops in the shop as well as weekend social rides, leaving the shop on Saturday mornings at 9.30 as well as road, cyclo-cross and criterium races.

Ed

Locked in a never ending battle with Mikey for the sexiest member of staff with no hair (it's a niche area), Ed specialises in treating cyclists and triathletes who need sports rehabilitation. As well as working for the NHS as a senior physiotherapist Ed runs a busy private practice. Ed joins us as part of our bike fit team where he will be helping those with injuries or weaknesses that need addressing for them to become stronger on the bike. A former 1st Cat rider with multiple medals at the Masters Track and Masters World Track series, Ed now focuses on Time Trailing.
Currently Riding: Kinesis TK3, Trek Madone, Cervelo P5
