On the 22nd February we are very proud to be holding a Ladies Night here at the shop to raise money to send Lydia Mellen to the World Transplant Games in Malaga in June. Lydia has been chosen to represent Great Britain in the 5km Time Trial following her storming performances at the British Transplant games in Liverpool last year.
Now, unlike Olympic athletes, Lydia doesn't receive any funding from the likes of the National Lottery etc so she has to raise £2,000 herself towards attending the games. This is where we step in. We love Lydia and her Dad, Rich, so we want to help however we can. We also want to encourage more ladies to cycle as it's a great pastime (we would say that, wouldn't we).
Starting at 7.30pm with fizz and nibbles there will then be a talk from Racing Chance trustee and women's cycling ambassador, Heather Bamforth (pictured left) and a fun jargon busting quiz. We will also be joined by nutritionist Emma Quarmby from Quarmby's Deli, Molton Brown will be with us with discounted products and offering hand and arm massages as well as information about bike fitting for ladies and ladies specific bikes with Cycleworks own Andrew Faiser.
Tickets are limited and are now on sale from York Cycleworks for £15, get in and get yours now as they're selling fast!
