It's been a while since York Cycleworks posted a race report, and given that it was the legendarily tough 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross last weekend, we thought we better get something penned.
York Cycleworks' Callum Sewell, Tony Mills, Richard Sewell Craig Gath and John Senior all toed the line alongside 3 Peaks Legends Rob Jebb, Nick Craig and even EF Education First Pro Cycling's Pro Tour rider Lachlan Morton.
Conditions on the the day weren't awful, and there have certainly been more challenging days in recent years, but our 5 intrepid riders put on sterling displays with Craig taking the honours with an 87th place finish in 3 hours 45 minutes, just in front of Callum and Tony who arrived at the finish just over 5 minutes later. Richard 'Papa' Sewell and John finished in just over 5 hours for 14th and 17th places respectively in the MV60 age category.
Having spectated at this event for a fair few years - and even having entered but not made it through the ballot - the writer has nothing but the utmost respect for anyone who takes on this epic and iconic challenge. Chapeau to you all.
In other news, the previous weekend Matthew Eastwood raced the first round of the Yorkshire Cyclo-Cross Association 2019/20 Yorkshire Points Round 1 near Beverley. Matthew took 22nd place in the super competitive MV40 category and 46th overall. Congrats Matthew
Not one to put all his eggs in one basket, Matthew Eastwood also took part in Ilkley Triathlon, finishing 18th overall and 7th in AG, another fair effort from 'Amateur'.
If you have been racing in York Cycleworks colours we'd always love to hear about your exploits. Just drop us a line!
