Santini Autumn / Winter gear road test
We'd been pretty impressed with the new range of Santini cycling wear that recently arrived in store. From Winter jackets, Spring/Autumn gilets and waterproof outerwear to socks, caps and beanies, the new Santini collection offers a comprehensive range of gear.
But don’t take our word for it though. One of our customers - Liz Rylott - has been out and about recently testing the new Autumn/Winter range of cycling wear. An accomplished and adventurous cyclist, who loves both the Road and the Trail on her Trek Domane and Fuel EX alike, Liz was more than happy to put some of the kit through its paces for us on a recent trip to Scotland. Read Liz’s thoughts below:
Santini Coral Raggio Women's Bib Tights
Colour: Granatina Orange.
These bib tights are spot on for winter road riding. The fit is great and the chamois is so comfy I didn't think about it - even on longer (+100km) rides. The tights have a light fleecy lining that is perfect for the <12oC riding in the UK, warm, but not roastin'. I'm all for bright colours on the bike, especially in winter, and the orange flashes on the legs are a clever design. The vest front keeps me warm, and I like the flattering pattern, with the back cut away for breathability, these bib tights work brilliantly with a thermal and jacket combo.
Santini Vega Multi Women's Jacket
Colour: Granatina Orange.
This is probably the best cycling jacket I have ever worn. It is just beautifully designed and stitched together. The cuffs have a comfy, snug fit to keep the water out, and the stretchy waterproof fabric gives a great fit, no flapping in the wind here! The pockets are exactly what you need on a winter ride, 3 large pockets on the back (I seem to carry more gear in the winter), with a fourth, waterproof-zipped one for my phone. The back of the jacket is cut longer than a summer jacket, this gives extra protection from the rain, and makes sure I don't have a cold draught up my back. The colour too, is perfect, a stylish bright orange; only an idiot goes out on the roads in winter dressed head-to-toe in black...
Santini Guard Nimbus Women's Packable Rain Vest
Is the Santini rain vest made from Mithril, the magical elfen fabric in The Lord of the Rings? It is incredibly light, and packs to nothing, yet it is breathable and waterproof. This vest is what I use for milder weather rides, when I think I might hit a shower or two, but don't want to overheat in a waterproof jacket. Top tip- stuff it in a (dry!) water bottle and add to your second bottle cage for shorter rides.
We have a comprehensive range of the Santini gear in store so why not swing by and have a look?
